Disc 1 - 1998 Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event: America's First Four Star
April 24th, 1998, marked a new and exciting chapter in Eventing history as the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event became only the third annual Four Star event in the world and, more importantly, the first in the United States.
With a true international field of 33 entries, the 1998 Rolex Kentucky Four Star kicked off with one of America’s greatest riders, Bruce Davidson, leading the way! With names such as O’Connor, Dutton, Crowell and Stark, the always-passionate Rolex fans knew they were in for a great competition! Hosted by three-time Olympian and Rolex winner Jimmy Wofford, with retrospective interviews by Event Director Jane Atkinson and Four Star winner Nick Larkin, we invite you to go back in time and enjoy some of the exciting highlights from America’s first Four Star, the 1998 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.
Disc 2 - 1978 World Three-Day Event Championships
In 1978, over the course of four very hot & humid days in September, an enthusiastic crowd of over 100,000 converged upon the newly created Kentucky Horse Park to attend the World Three-Day Event Championships.
Fast forward to 2008, thirty years have passed by… a container of old film is discovered deep in the confines of Equestrian Events, Inc. storage room. Having no idea what they held, Jane Atkinson, Executive Vice President of EEI, decided to have the films converted. Little did she know what a wonderful piece of Eventing history she’d resurrected.As originally narrated by Bruce Davidson, we invite you to travel back in time to see where and how it all began.
